Past, Present and Future
Hi there everybody, Nick here!
Nearly 6 months have passed by since our vinyl hit the shops and the DJ decks around the world. It was a genuine thrill to see our record on the racks next to Madonna! Since I got back from my globetrotting trip to USA and Australia, Harriet and I have had time to meet up with Susu and reflect on the progress of Mama Razzi.
We were and still are delighted that the vinyl sold 1000 copies, which is fantastic for a limited vinyl release. We know that most of you non-DJs don’t have record decks – I think some of you will never have even owned a record in your life!! Well if you did shell out for our 12” then I am sure it will make an attractive piece of vintage art for your Ikea front room! Once again a massive thank you from Harriet and I to everyone that bought it and to all our DJ buddies who gave it airtime – especially our friends at AVANTI FM, thanks for our 3rd number 1!!
Harriet and I are now taking time to pursue other projects in our lives, and we are pressing pause on the Mama Razzi machine for the moment to allow for this. Oh my God – is this a split of the proportions of the Beatles, Spice Girls or even Johnny Hates Jazz(!?) There is a counselling line available for those of you too traumatised to continue your lives……! No, it's pretty straight forward really, we both feel that after 5 years working on Mama Razzi it is time to follow some of our other life goals.
Music is still my focus and you will hear some of the fruits of my current labours over the next few weeks. I am working with DJ Slamma, one of Soho’s premier resident DJs, and we have just finished 2 brand new tracks that will be premiered on my new website very soon. All the Mama Razzi friends will be emailed with links to the site. I am also planning some new live performances for the end of the summer, and again dates will be emailed out once they are confirmed.
In the meantime, Harriet and I have enjoyed looking back on our body of work from rough demos to UK top 10 club hits!! We have no immediate future plans but the tunes are always out there for public consumption, see the links below.
Over the coming months we will update mamarazzi.co.uk with rare nuggets from the last 5 years, and to kick off you can view our documentary of ‘Mama Razzi at Manchester Pride 2005’, all 9 minutes of it!!! This is a film I recently edited together from our trip there last summer, and I think it shows the fun and excitement that has made Mama Razzi such a brilliant part of my life!!
Enjoy….. love Nickx

'..a Massive Peak Time Vocal Houser!' (Glasgow's Levelone Records on 'As I Kiss You')
‘Mama Razzi follow up the beautiful "Show Me Love" with this quality number. A gorgeous vocal sits nicely on top of a very epic composition. Loads of strings, guitars & dramatic drum programming. Watch the Hed Kandi plays come flying in!’ (From the review at Hard-to-Find Records)
'Tougher than usual outing on Susu that benefits from the vocal talents of Diane Charlemagne and remixes from Max Quayle, who is renowned for his work with Madonna. The vocal mix is the one to go for here and is a dark chunky affair that will introduce this label to a new legion of fans.' (Taken from Alternativemusic.com)
